JOS SCHELLINGERHOUDT

“I prefer to be on the road as much as possible.”

Electrical Engineer at Blue Fielders

Exploring the world

Meet Jos Schellingerhoudt, a laid-back techie with nearly a decade of experience in the tech industry. Jos has a love of engineering, but what really drives him is the opportunity to explore the world while working on engineering projects. Jos, Electrical Engineer at Blue Fielders, talks more about his career and adventures.

The perfect combination of technology and travel

Jos began his engineering journey about nine years ago and has worked primarily as an Electrical Engineer. Why he chose a job in this field? Jos puts it soberly: “If you have a logical mind, you’ll go a long way in engineering.” He worked in the food industry and had a great time at a company that developed food processing and bakery machines. When the ability to travel for work diminished, Jos began looking for a new challenge. Travel is much more than a hobby for him; it is an essential element of his life. And that brought him to Blue Fielders, where he combines his passion for engineering with travel. He has already worked in different parts of Europe, America and Canada and hopes to explore Africa and Asia in future projects.

One of the most positive job applications

About a year ago, Jos began his journey at Blue Fielders, an adventure that has pleased him to this day. During the application process, he was extremely positively surprised by the sincerity and enthusiasm of Gijs and Broos. “It’s been one of the most positive job applications I’ve ever had,” he recalls. The emphasis on honesty and transparency immediately appealed to Jos.
“I immediately got a great offer with a permanent contract and a serious salary,” he explains. “No big fancy stories, but clarity. You know immediately where you stand and that’s nice!”

Plenty of opportunities and destinations

Jos is currently working as a lead installation engineer at a chip manufacturer in England. He says, “The boxes of chips are stacked on pallets using robots and then taken to the trucks. I, along with the site supervisor and programmers, make sure that all the machines are installed properly and that the robots in all the conveyors are functioning optimally.” While he is still comfortable in his place at this company and sees plenty of opportunities for advancement, he fantasizes about future destinations: “In a year’s time there may be a project in Mexico, I’m already looking to spend a few months there.” For Jos, working at Blue Fielders is not only a career, but also an adventure that lets him discover the world.
