ROGER HOEVELER

“That ‘look behind the scenes’ helps you discover what suits you and what doesn’t.”

Software Engineer at Blue Fielders

Blue Fielder of the first hour

Roger Hoeveler, a software engineer at heart, shares why he has chosen Blue Fielders for eight years. His professional journey began in industrial automation with a major industrial installer. After a management position in an engineering department, he chose to move to Blue Fielders in 2015. “I have witnessed the entire development of the company, from inception to where we are today,” Roger said.

Real attention to people

“What makes Blue Fielders truly unique? The family feeling and the commitment of Broos (managing director Blue Fielders). That is exactly why, after all these years, I still choose Blue Fielders. It is really about people. That shows in several things. To start with, the regular contact I have with Broos to catch up on how things are going. Blue Fielders is growing, but not disproportionately. This keeps the lines of communication short and keeps attention to the well-being and wishes of the employees.”

“In addition, plenty of fun activities are organized: an annual ski trip, summer barbecue, Christmas dinner and plenty of spontaneous get-togethers. Which not only ensures a good time, but also strengthens the mutual bond. These initiatives make you feel appreciated as an employee and as a person within the company. After all, to me appreciation means more than just a financial reward.”

Challenging projects worldwide

“The opportunity to work around the world makes Blue Fielders – in addition to the culture – the perfect workplace for me. I spend about 90% of my time abroad. This is a deliberate choice, but fortunately it can be done at Blue Fielders. Being in the same office every day doesn’t work for me. Seeing the world, meeting new people and discovering cultures is an absolute must for me. And here I find that combination with challenging engineering projects worldwide. For example, I worked for a year and a half in Toronto, Canada, where I collaborated as a control engineer for VanderLande – specialist in transportation systems – on the installation of a new baggage system at Toronto Airport.

I can develop myself widely

At Blue Fielders, my development never stands still, even after eight years. Working at Blue Fielders means working for (many) different companies in various industries, which keeps my development broad and challenging. Because of my broad experience and knowledge, I am constantly learning and remain flexible for all kinds of projects. That ‘inside look’ helps you discover what suits you and what doesn’t, without being limited by a contract with one employer for a specific position.”
