IVAN ZIVKOVIC
“After the first conversation, I knew it, it felt right away”
Software Engineer at Blue Fielders
A good feeling from the first conversation
“I actually didn’t feel like looking for a new job again at all, all that hassle. But I’m very glad I took the step” said Ivan Zivkovic, software engineer at Blue Fielders. After seven years as a software engineer for his previous employer, he made the move to Blue Fielders last September.
“After the first conversation with Broos (managing director Blue Fielders), I immediately knew this is it. It seemed like I had known Broos for years, very special” Ivan says. “Broos is positive, energetic and not just businesslike. We obviously need to be placed with a client to make money, but the conversation was mostly about me personally and not just about the work. Broos brought his story full of enthusiasm, something I had not seen for a long time” Ivan continues. “I really love my job, but the atmosphere has to be good too.”
A place that really suits you
Engineers can work anywhere in the world, including just in the Netherlands. “I was given a number of options by Broos and chose for myself the client that appealed to me the most. The choice fell on GEA Food,” Ivan says. GEA – based in Weert – is one of the world’s leading suppliers of packaging machines for the food industry. Among other things, they make the machines for Haribo bags. “Machines I find very interesting. And that’s exactly what I’m working on now. I’m optimizing the software and the interface of the control screens.”
The fact that Ivan gets to choose his own project that fits his interests is a big plus for him of working at Blue Fielders. “I’ve had conversations before with agencies that want to put you to work right away. That is fortunately different with Blue Fielders. Above all, they want you to work in the right place. It’s not just about making money. It is also about having a good time. Would you like to work as a software engineer at a company that suits you? Then Blue Fielders is the place to be,” Ivan said.
A passion for software engineering
Ivan began his career as a graphic designer. With several stopovers, including one as a solar panel installer, he found his passion in software engineering. “From day one, I have super enjoyed the work. The thing I like most is that I can work independently of location. A year in the Spanish sun for a project? I don’t say no to that,” Ivan says with a laugh. And until then, there are plenty of opportunities for further development at GEA.
