With us, the employee is the focus! His/her career combined with a high degree of fun is what matters. We strive to do a little better every day to maximize our contribution to a Blue Fielder’s career and enjoyment!
How we do this? Daniel Hoogwerf (age 27), one of our Blue Fielders tells his story.
Introducing…
‘I am Daniël Hoogwerf, 27 years old and now working at GEA for 1.5 years as a software engineer through Blue Fielders.
Right now I am working at GEA to change the software of a cruise ship. Later today I am flying to France to go load and test this.
Although GEA is a very large organization, we are a relatively small team. My colleagues prefer not to travel, I really enjoy doing it so this project suits me very well! Especially since they are mostly short trips, I can combine it perfectly with my personal life.
Techniques I used:
- ‘For my current client, I work with Siemens and Allen Bradley. The programming language I currently use is SCL.’
What are you most proud of so far?
“That has been a commissioning of several large cold – freezer cells. Initially, I went there to take care of the controls. Each hall has its own temperature: from room temperature to freezer temperature. However, I also ended up doing electrical and mechanical work. This was greatly appreciated by my colleagues because we got to the desired end result so quickly and well.
Because we delivered the project so well and neatly, additional work resulted. Mechanical engineers are there now performing a retro fit to the refrigeration system. GEA will again be asked to organize commissioning for future new construction as well. Super when a customer has a great preference to work with GEA and absolutely great that I was able to help with that!
What did you learn?
Through Blue Fielders, I took several courses at Siemens and Rockwell, among others, to further develop myself as a Software Engineer. I took these courses during my time at GEA and was able to use them immediately in the projects I did and still do.
Although everyone is always busy, Blue Fielders makes a point of taking training and courses. From my Blue Fielders colleagues I always hear the same reaction after taking a course, “if only I had done this earlier, super course!”
What exactly makes it a project for a Blue Fielder?
‘Flexibility is very important, especially in the marine world. This is what every Blue Fielder has. This flexibility is good for our client, but also for myself. I want a job where every day is different and where you face new challenges every day. That way I keep developing and I can add more and more value.
