SEM VAN NOORT

“The fact that I get to travel a lot for my job makes this the perfect job for me.”

Field Service Engineer at Blue Fielders

Coming home to a world of technical possibilities

“Before I got in touch with Blue Fielders, I didn’t even know this position existed,” said Sem van Noort, Field Service Engineer at Blue Fielders. And yet he chose this job at Blue Fielders. Why? “I like traveling very much and I can combine that with my work here. Earning money while traveling, for me it’s the best of both worlds”.

It started with sports training, followed by electrical engineering. “It’s not the most obvious route, from sports to engineering. I hear that a lot”. Still, it is a choice he does not regret. “After a brief conversation with Broos (managing director Blue Fielders), I was immediately converted”.

Like other Field Service Engineers at Blue Fielders, Sem is seconded. He currently works for a client (EAS) for whom he inspects, tests and repairs injection molding machine fastening systems. And that worldwide. “I have already been to France, Morocco, Germany and the Czech Republic in the short time I have been with Blue Fielders.” According to him, that frequent travel is something you have to be able to stand when you want to work as a Field Service Engineer. “Sometimes you have to go to Germany for a day, which are decent trips. The same goes for flying. I don’t mind that at all, but I can imagine it can be tiring if you don’t like that.”

Besides traveling, you also work on your technical skills. “There are plenty of opportunities to develop. I now work a lot with magnet technology, which was previously uncharted territory for me. Just to give an example.” Working on technical issues in many different places is overwhelmingly part of this job. But why Blue Fielders? “It feels like a family. At Blue Fielders, I am seen. There is consideration for my interests and ambitions; in fact, anything goes at Blue Fielders. I noticed this during the first conversation with Broos. And above all, let’s not forget the fun outings. The ski trip and the barbecue, I’m looking forward to it again!”. The golden tip for budding Field Service Engineers? “Just knock on Broos’ door.”
