GRARD NOOIJEN
“The combination of people and technology. That’s the best thing about my job.”
Field Service Engineer at Blue Fielders
Travel, customer contact and personal development
What draws him to a job as an engineer? “The combination of people and technology, that’s what makes my job so beautiful,” said Grard Nooijen, Field Service Engineer at Blue Fielders. His technical background strengthens him in his position, but the additional aspects shape him into the person he is. “The traveling, the customer contact and the personal development. These are things that you have to experience, that you don’t get taught in school. That’s what makes me the person I am today.”
As a Field Service Engineer, he travels around the world. “I work independently and travel a lot. Then you have to be able to stand your ground, because wherever you are deployed: you are the initiator and your know-how is of great importance. But just as important is being able to adapt to different environments, because you come into contact with various cultures. A specific organizational sensitivity and an open mind, you have to have that.”
He explains his choice of Blue Fielders briefly but powerfully. “As a Field Service Engineer, you can work for a variety of companies. So why specifically Blue Fielders? Because it is small-scale. We know each other, Broos (managing director Blue Fielders) knows what drives me and what I find important. I like to be part of a committed, personal organization. I can tell you a lot about that, but you have to feel it. My ambition and I as a person matter, which makes me feel valued and heard. That makes me part of Blue Fielders.”
