With us, the employee is the focus! His/her career combined with a high degree of fun is what matters. We strive to do a little better every day to maximize our contribution to a Blue Fielder’s career and enjoyment!
How we do this? Hendrik Verhees (age 24), one of our Blue Fielders tells his story.
Introducing…
“At 24 years old, I am one of the youngest Blue Fielders. I grew up in a family of engineers (father and 2 of my 3 brothers are engineers). Perhaps this was also the impetus for me to study Industrial Engineering Electromechanics myself. When I graduated from KU Leuven in 2016, I immediately started working at ASML. After 2 years of service, some (less pleasant) experiences with my secondment agency made me look for a new challenge. When Sander Korten told me about Blue Fielders, I wasn’t super excited at first. I had resolved to never work for a staffing agency again because I felt that “they are all the same.”
‘Finally, after a few pleasant conversations with both Jochen and Broos as well as through Sander’s positive stories, I decided to transfer to Blue Fielders exactly 1 year ago.
Something I haven’t regretted for a moment!
The first period at Blue Fielders I worked for CPS, a company that makes packaging machines. Here I was Field Service Mechanic along with my colleague Blue Fielder John. After indicating to Jochen/Broos that I would like a more challenging role I ended up at Vekoma. Here I started working from April 1 as a Sustaining Development Engineer. Vekoma is one of the market leaders in building and developing amusement park attractions. The job I have here is an ideal combination between thinking and doing. Together with my colleague Koen, we proactively look for improvements that improve the longevity of our attractions. This means that we are busy every day searching for new materials, devising and working out test setups, as well as testing the materials in a controlled environment or effectively on an existing roller coaster.
Is Blue Fielders meeting your expectations?
“I have never had a job as interesting/challenging as the one I have now. Before I came to Blue Fielders, I knew pretty much what I wanted to do: be partly busy with my hands and partly use my 4 years of college knowledge behind a desk. I thought for a long time that this type of job did not exist, until Blue Fielders suggested my current job as a Sustaining Development Engineer. Aside from the fact that they found a good position for me, I think it’s just a nice club!
Where does your passion lie both work and personal?
“In my work, it is very important for me to be challenged and to keep learning every day. Being constantly engaged in technology and innovation keeps me on my toes.
In addition, my passion in my private life is mostly volleyball. I have been playing at Volleyball Club Pelt for 15 years and because of the good results last season, we are playing a series higher this year.’
What makes Blue Fielders unique?
“The one thing that makes Blue Fielders unique is that they are very committed to forming a friendly and established group. Because Blue Fielders’ employees work all over the country/world, it is not a given that everyone knows each other as well. Organizing drinks or a BBQ, etc. every month still creates a nice group where everyone knows each other. Beyond this, Broos and Jochen are constantly actively seeking out colleagues at the various clients. This is certainly not obvious!
The annual ski trip is, of course, the icing on the cake. With a pot of beer in hand and some jagermeisters in the stomach, only real bonds are forged….
This all adds to the fact that everything is very approachable. Reporting a problem or asking a question is not done via an email starting with ”Dear Jochen and Broos, …” but just quickly and briefly via a message on WhatsApp.”
